Assessed by ear while driving the car at the same speed ranges before and after each treatment; noise level and gear mesh backlash were not measured.
Report conclusion
The report of JSC M-Stroy records: "The final drive was treated in two stages, owing to heavy wear… the work was carried out at an odometer reading of 138652 km". Then stage by stage: "The 1st treatment was carried out with one tube of XADO gel for gearboxes and final drives, in accordance with the treatment procedure. Result: axle whine at 60-80 km/h stopped"; "The 2nd treatment was carried out with one tube of XADO gel… Result: axle whine at 40-60 km/h stopped". The car arrived for treatment with whine across the whole 40-80 km/h band — the two treatments closed it in full. The axle was not disassembled and no parts were replaced: the gel is added to the standard oil, and the tooth geometry is restored on the unit while it runs.
The results refer to the rear axle final drive of a VAZ-2107 passenger car with about 139,000 km on the odometer; on other units and with a different condition of the assembly the figures may differ. The original report with signatures and stamps is published in full and available for download.
