The gain in output and the 9.2 % saving in electricity are recorded in the report through the shorter charging time; noise, vibration and heating are the assessment of the plant commission.

Conclusion of the plant commission

The compressor had run at the plant for 17 years and had reached a condition in which standard repair was impossible: “Since the compressor is of foreign make, it was not possible to obtain piston rings, as they differ from the standards of Ukraine and the CIS countries.” Instead of disassembly, the piston group was treated in one week directly on the machine. The time to charge to 8 atm fell from 2 min 21 s to 2 min 08 s, output rose by 9.2 %, and, according to the report, “noise dropped to the level of a new compressor, vibration disappeared, the compressor does not overheat.” The commission's finding: “treatment of the compressor made its disassembly and the replacement of piston rings unnecessary, electricity consumption has been reduced.”

The results relate to an imported piston compressor of a drawing machine that had run for 17 years in cable manufacturing; figures may differ on other equipment. RVS is an obsolete XADO designation for zero-generation compounds; the current product generation is revitalizants. The original report is published in full and available for download.
