About the catalogue documents

Composition of the catalogue's documents, the test procedure, the source of the figures on the card, the limits of the conclusions, and the rights to the documents.

Composition of the catalogue's documents

348 industrial test reports from 18 countries, 1998–2021. The documents were drawn up by plant commissions, parties to the test, laboratories and universities; the document type is stated on the case card. The party that drew up the document answers for its content.

Documents are published in full, without summarising: a full scan of the original sits under every case, available to view and download. The only change to a scan is personal data hidden on request — see “Names and personal data”.

Test procedure

Mostly on the plant's own working equipment. Measurements were taken on the plant's own machines in normal service. Treatment runs without disassembly and without taking the unit out of operation.

A measurement before and a measurement after. The same parameters with the same instruments — compression gauge, vibrometer, sound level meter, clamp meter, gear tooth gauge, micrometer. Where the commission cited a standard, the reference is quoted on the card.

Running time between measurements in the catalogue's reports is taken from the document and is not stated in every one of them; for new tests it is set by the component's procedure — see the measurement comparability conditions.

Source of the figures on a card

From the document only. If the commission's conclusion says “growth of 10–20 %”, the card shows 10–20 — even when recomputing from the measurement table gives more.

The range is computed per cylinder or measuring point. Where some showed no growth or a drop, the caption says so plainly.

A discrepancy between a card and the scan is possible. In that case the scan is authoritative — it is published next to the card.

Limits of the conclusions

These are industrial tests on working equipment, not laboratory or certification trials. The result is not guaranteed: it depends on the condition of the machine, its duty cycle, the oil and the quality of treatment.

Most cases in the catalogue have no untreated control machine: the unit is compared with itself before and after treatment under the measurement comparability conditions.

Treatment does not replace repair. Parts with terminal wear, cracks or chipping must be replaced.

The catalogue is not a public offer, a commercial proposal or a promise of any particular result on your equipment.

Checking against the original

The figures on a card are checked against the scan of the original under the case. Which signatures a document carries, and whether it has a stamp, depends on the document type.

Names of the technology and the “current equivalent”

Reports from different years name the same technology differently: “XADO compound”, “XADO technology”, “revitalizant”, “gel”. These are names of one XADO revitalisation technology, as they were used in the year the document was written. The names are quoted exactly as written, with nothing replaced.

The “Current equivalent” block on a card is a selection by component type from the present range, not a quotation from the document. Dose rates and the number of stages are quoted from instruction IE-24.6-25612000-005-2008.

Names and personal data

The documents carry names and, where signed, the signatures of commission members, representatives of the parties to the test or responsible persons. They are part of the document. This data is not collected separately, no lists are built from it, and it is not passed to third parties. A request to remove personal data, if you are named in a document, is sent to privacy@xado.com.

Rights to the documents

Rights to the documents belong to the plants that drew them up; they are published as evidence of testing. XADO and the product names are trademarks of their owner. The catalogue may be cited freely with a reference to the source.

Reporting an error

A reported error is checked against the original, and the card is corrected or the case withdrawn. A case whose test procedure was compromised is withdrawn even when its figures look good. To report an error, use the address given under Contacts.

XADO Pilot Testing Programme

Application submitted by

Pilot treatment on the enterprise's equipment

  • any oil- or grease-lubricated assemblies: gearboxes, engines, compressors, bearings and others;
  • treatment within the regular operating cycle, without halting production;
  • instrumental measurements before and after: vibration, temperature, power consumption or current;
  • procedure for the specific assembly, dose calculation and support from a XADO engineer.

After the application, a XADO engineer will agree the units and the list of measurements with you.
