Main marine gearbox

Both the gear trains and the hydraulic components run in the same oil sump — this determines the choice of formulation.

Main gearbox of the marine machinery drive with hydraulic system components: 1000 L sump

Selection rule: if hydraulic pumps, hydraulic motors, directional control valves or valves operate in the shared sump, the power steering gel is used; if there are none, the gel for gearboxes and reduction gears is used. The rate is 3.0 mL per liter in both cases. Gearboxes with oil filtration →

Treatment stages

  1. Dilute the gel in the standard oil at 40–60 °C and introduce it through the inspection hatch or the oil filler opening, or directly onto the working surfaces of the gears. Then 8–12 hours of operation
  2. The second stage is the same as the first. After 8 hours of cumulative operating time
  3. The third stage is the same as the first. After another 8 hours
