Vehicle power steering systems

Vehicle power steering systems are subject to treatment. The purpose is restorative repair and wear protection of the power steering hydraulic system components without disassembly, under normal operating conditions.

Preparation

What is measured before and after

ParameterInstrumentHow and when
Alignment of the belt drive pulleys—During diagnostics before treatment; an indirect sign of misalignment is increased noise of the pump drive belt
Oil level in the power steering reservoir—Before treatment; if the level is low, top up the oil in accordance with the power steering operating manual
Volume of the power steering oil system, l—Determined before adding the gel — the consumption rate is selected from table 8.1 on its basis

What the reports on these components showed

  1. Increased electric power consumption1 case
  2. Loss of compression2 cases · median 18 %, 4 values
  3. Increased fuel consumption2 cases · median 12 %, 2 values
  4. Increased clearances and backlash2 cases
  5. Oil pressure drop3 cases

Dosage rates

CompoundRateHow and when
XADO revitalizant gel for power steering1 tube of 9.0 ml or 1 aerosol can of 10.0 mlFor a power steering oil system volume of 1–2 l; treatment schedule — single application (table 8.1)
XADO revitalizant gel for power steering2 tubes of 9.0 ml or 2 aerosol cans of 10.0 mlFor a power steering oil system volume of 2–5 l; treatment schedule — single application (table 8.1)
XADO revitalizant gel for power steering3 tubes of 9.0 ml or 3 aerosol cans of 10.0 mlFor a power steering oil system volume of 5–8 l; treatment schedule — single application (table 8.1)

Treatment stages

  1. Add “XADO revitalizant gel for power steering” into the power steering reservoir in the quantity specified in table 8.1
  2. Turn the steering wheel in both directions to the stops5–10 minutes
  3. Operate the power steering hydraulic system in normal modeFull treatment cycle — at least 50 operating hours or at least 1500 km of mileage

XADO Pilot Testing Programme

Application submitted by

Pilot treatment on the enterprise's equipment

  • any oil- or grease-lubricated assemblies: gearboxes, engines, compressors, bearings and others;
  • treatment within the regular operating cycle, without halting production;
  • instrumental measurements before and after: vibration, temperature, power consumption or current;
  • procedure for the specific assembly, dose calculation and support from a XADO engineer.

After the application, a XADO engineer will agree the units and the list of measurements with you.
